For those of you who were wondering–no, we did not forget about the month of November and yes, we have a Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi just for it. Hope everyone stuffed themselves silly with lots of yummy foods during the holidays!

For our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi, we went with the Native American look. We could have gone with the pilgrim look but ultimately decided that a Native American monkey would allow for more decoration. Since we already had a lot of Native American styled props lying around the house, why not use them here?

Doesn’t our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi look so cozy and right at home with all the props in the background? Sometimes those random souvenirs you buy on trips really come in handy!

By the way, the feathers on its headdress are parakeet feathers! We used to have a couple of parakeets and when it came to cleaning their cage, we’d always have a nice supply of some pretty feathers. We saved up quite a few of them, so that also gave us another reason to make a Native American monkey amigurumi. Yes I know, it should have way more feathers on its headdress, but our parakeets weren’t balding!

Our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi with its turkey friend. Come to think of it, we didn’t even eat turkey this Thanksgiving… Instead, we ate…….duck.

Its face paint is actually red and white nail polish! Could have just used paint, but I didn’t have a paintbrush and plus, I didn’t want to wash it afterwards either. But since nail polish already comes with a brush, it was much more tempting and easy solution to my little dilemma hahaa.

Anyone up for another Halloween monkey amigurumi? We are!!!

halloween-monkey-amigurumi-13-1
I’ve been waiting many months just to post this one particular Halloween monkey amigurumi. This is actually the original Halloween monkey that we made. But Halloween’s the funnest time of the year, so why not just go all out and make a whole boatload of them?

This one took quite a while to make. It was me who kept pestering our crocheter to make this monkey. I was looking forward to making this the most! So I couldn’t help myself and changed a few things about it. I painted one eye all white and the other with a single red pupil to give it a more creepy (but cute!) look. Changed the mouth, added a bunch of stitch work, and cut out the shape and face of a jack-o-lantern for the chest piece.

Cutting out those tiny triangles and teeth on that pumpkin shaped chest piece was a lot of work but it still came out okay. It was like carving a real pumpkin but out of felt!

I really wanted this Halloween monkey amigurumi to have two distinct personalities. The left side (picture above) is the cute and happy side and the right side (below) is the scarier/crazier side. So if you look at these two pictures separately, they’ll look like two different monkeys! All in one!

And here are our side views~

It looks like our Halloween monkey amigurumi is growing out of the…..Heart of Darkness!! Hahaha kidding~ Yes, I read the book…but don’t remember what happened. Hehe.

Its castle. Very small castle–and yes, it can support the weight of an entire monkey! Such a strong little fortress its got there.

And now with a friend! Pumpkin minion?

halloween-monkey-amigurumi-1-1
I was so happy about making this Halloween monkey amigurumi that I even took the time to paint a background for it. Don’t know if you can see it, but there’s actually purple bats flying in the background. I also painted the little fortress/castle-like thing too. That was actually a white styrofoam box that housed six eggs in its nice foamy grasp. Putting this set together took a whole afternoon! But I’m pleased with the end result. Still more monkeys to come!

Sweet dreams everyone! Hope you all enjoyed our Halloween monkey amigurumi!!
